Kelly Carmoody

Artist Bio
Kelly Carmody is a painter working in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She studied painting at Massachusetts College of Art where she worked from the figure and received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2001. Led by her interest in the Old Masters, specifically the Northern Renaissance painters, she investigated their techniques both independently and in workshops and classes. Egg tempera and Renaissance painting techniques were her focus. Introduced to the teachings of Numael Pulido, Ms. Carmody spent two seasons studying classical painting and design in his studio.

Kelly Carmody’s work has been shown in various group exhibitions and most recently at Stel’s on Newbury Street, where she had a solo show. She is a member of the Fort Point Art Community where she participates in Open Studios. Her portrait work, miniature gouache paintings and murals are in private collections throughout New England.

Merging contemporary subjects and style with the studied techniques of the Masters, Ms. Carmody is currently creating a series of portraits influenced by their designs. Kelly Carmody was born in 1977, grew up in Topsfield and now lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
